- Access Control/Gate: –

• Open the gate for recognized client vehicles.

• For pedestrian visitors, record their names, identity card numbers and telephone numbers then confirm with the residents if they can be authorized. If authorized, allow access.
• Maintain an up-to-date motor vehicle movement register for both visitors and residents at night and during the day.
- Patrol Duties
The night guards shall: –
• Alternate in patrolling within the compound of client which shall involve physically going round along the perimeter wall, around the parking area and at the stair cases.
• The guards shall report to the manager any incidences that occur in the property whether serious or not. - General
Guards are expected to:
• Ensure the safety/security of equipment availed to them for official use
• Maintain an up-to-date entry in the security occurrence book (OB)
• Remain on duty till and when they are properly relived
• If so relived, do a proper handing and taking over to the incoming guard
• All the guards must be observant to check on any un-usual incidences.
• Inspect goods in possession of visitors, staff or contractors leaving the premises if there is need to do so. - Code of Conduct
Guards are expected to
• Report on duty punctually, smartly dressed up in uniform
• Be civilized, courteous and with good public relations but firm while discharging duties
• Accord due respect to the residents, visitors and general public.
• Do not take anything from the assignment unless properly authorized.
• Do not engage in activities that may impact negatively on their service delivery,
• Do not entertain friends and relatives at the place of work,
• Be a person of integrity and good moral conduct which shall include but not limited to the following: –- A guard shall not solicit money from clients
- A guard shall not be sent to run errands or clean the client/visitor vehicles
- A guard shall not engage in personal relationship with the residents, or their workers
- A guard shall not be found inside offices whether on duty or not
- A guard should not report on duty drunk.
